How is Apollo Different from Other Lasers?
The Apollo is the most powerful, lightweight portable laser available. Power:  A powerful 2000mW infrared laser means that you can relieve pain in 1-2 minutes.

Power is inversely proportional to the treatment time. This means that more powerful lasers require less treatment time. To relieve pain, a 1000mW laser can require 2-4 minutes and a 100mW laser can require 10-15 minutes.

Lightweight:  The Apollo weighs less than three pounds!
Portability:  Apollo has a powerful battery that can treat for up to 2 hours, or 30-60 patients, on a single charge!
Price:  At $4495 you get the most powerful laser for your money on the market today.
Wavelength:  At 810nm, it is the ideal infrared wavelength for pain.
Warranty:  There is no other laser that has a 3 year parts and labor warranty with no costly annual service requirement.
Quality:  Apollo uses 4 x 500mW laser diodes for a total of 2000mW. These are actually 1000mW diodes lowered to 500mW so that they are cool and reliable. Aerospace aluminum construction means it is very durable.
Proven:  A proven track record of 7 years of international sales.
Versatility:  A point probe is available if you want to treat tender or trigger points.

What does the Price Include?
The laser control unit and powerful 2000mW laser cluster probe. Laser Safety Goggles, Probe Cable, DC Adapter, User Gude & Operating Manual. A stylish shoulder bag to make it completely portable. A free 3 year parts and labor warranty, with no annual service requirement.

How is a Laser different from an LED?

Laser diodes and LEDs are similar, however, lasers produce a more intense light than an LED and are better when you want deep penetration, such as when treating a hip, shoulder, knee, etc. LED probes and pads are fine for more superficial treatments.

Please note: You may also come across the term "SLD" (superluminescent diode) when researching light therapy products. Although there are light emitters called superluminous diodes, the term SLD used in the context of light therapy devices is for marketing purposes only - there is NO SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCE between LEDs and SLDs used in light therapy devices.

How about an unattended LED pad?

The time to put patients in a gown or take off their clothes, lie down, turn the laser/pads on and off, and explain how to be careful not to burn, etc., takes longer than a 1-2 minute Apollo treatment. With LED pads you need to worry more about contamination (skin diseases being transferred) and burns. It is easier to wipe off a small probe than to clean a large pad.

Visible Red (VR) vs. Infrared (IR): The Difference?

For most indications, infrared is more versatile because it penetrates more deeply. The Apollo is in the infrared range and the wavelength is 810nm. VR, which is often around 660nm, is better for skin problems, but is not as versatile as an IR probe.

Do you provide training or protocols?

Dr. Turchin has developed an introduction to light and laser therapy that is complimentary with the purchase of an Apollo laser. He also has a comprehensive book available called Light & Laser Therapy: Clinical Procedures that is available for only $75 plus shipping.
Regular Light and Laser seminars are also held around the country. Visit www.lightandlasers.com or call Apollo for more information on seminars.

What about treating Acupuncture Points?

We have a point probe that can be used on tender trigger and pain-points. We also have an optional "light guide" accessory that allows you to treat small points, the size of acupuncture points. Many acupuncturists treat acupuncture points with lasers like ours even though the FDA has not approved laser acupuncture. The FDA has only cleared laser for treating pain, and most active acupuncture or trigger points are painful.

Can it be used for Smoking Cessation?

The FDA has not approved lasers for smoking cessation, weight loss, or any other addictions treatments, but laser devices have been cleared to treat pain and muscle spasm.

Lasers might be helpful in relieving the physical aches and pains associated with withdrawal from cigarettes or other substances.

Laser may be used if the clinic has an IRB (Institutional Review Board), or if it is used by a licensed medical practitioner.

How much can you charge for laser therapy?

You can bill $25.00 to $50.00 as an adjunctive, attended modality. Cash prices vary from $40.00 to $75.00 per visit. When you buy an Apollo laser or take a class with Dr. Turchin you will be given information about billing.
