Effective, Natural Healing for Your Animal or Pet

Your Doctor

Your veterinary physician is dedicated to high quality, effective medical care for your animal. Part of this focus on state-of-the-art quality is the use of Laser Therapy. Laser Therapy can provide a safe and effective way for your doctor to deal with many types of animal illnesses.

Laser Therapy

Laser Therapy uses pure, cool, infrared light to stimulate healing while reducing pain and inflammation. Laser Therapy is a unique, extremely gentle, form of treatment that and is virtually without side effects. It is very different from Laser Surgery because Laser Therapy avoids heating the tissue.

Laser Surgery

Laser Surgery is different from Laser Therapy. Laser Surgery uses “hot” lasers to cut, burn, and coagulate tissue for therapeutic benefit.

Forty Years of Laser Therapy Research

For over 40 years, Laser Therapy has been researched and utilized all over the world for the medical treatment of pain, wound healing, and almost all types of musculoskeletal conditions. There are more than 3,000 positive studies in the research literature proving the efficacy of laser for humans and animals. The same physiological effects that are utilized in human laser treatment also apply to animal laser therapy.

Safe For Many Conditions

Laser therapy is effective for chronic and acute conditions. It has been shown to be effective at speeding the healing of viral infections, non-healing wounds or where the animal’s immune system is compromised. Depending on the condition, laser therapy is often provided multiple times per week, followed by progressively longer treatment intervals as symptoms improve. During treatment most animals will relax and some even fall asleep. In fact, Laser Therapy is so safe that it can be used over metal, plastic, glues, sutures, and implanted electronic devices.

How does it work?

Different wavelengths of light are used to stimulate the cells involved in the animal’s own healing processes. Laser light is absorbed by small elements inside each cell called the mitochondria. This stimulation of the mitochondria heals all types of tissue, including bone, muscle, tendon, ligament, and nervous tissue.  In addition, Laser Therapy enhances the level of natural brain chemicals which can be successfully used in the management of pain due to illness or surgery.

Optimal Wound Healing

Many studies report that the use of laser stimulates both the speed and quality of wound-healing, particularly where the healing is delayed. It reduces edema and aids collagen alignment often resulting in better cosmetic appearance.

Safe Pain Relief

Laser Therapy can relieve pain for a multitude of conditions, including many types of pain syndromes. It is also very effective in treating muscle spasms and for easing arthritis, general muscle aches and joint stiffness. Laser is an alternative to anti-inflammatory drugs and steroids since there are many cases where the animal cannot continue long term drug usage or resists taking medication.

Being drug-free has the added benefit that it can be used safely, effectively and legally with animals involved in competitive events. Laser Therapy can be even used on the day of competition, without any worry about drug testing affecting their competitive status.
